The Mansfield Farmers’ Market welcomed a very special new stallholder to the median strip this July – and it’s one that has the local food community talking.
Merrijig Truffiere joined us for their very first market on Saturday 11 July, bringing locally grown PĂ©rigord black truffle (Tuber melanosporum) produced from French and English oak right here in the High Country. It’s the kind of ingredient usually associated with European fine dining – and it’s being grown just down the road from Mansfield.
For market regulars, it was a moment worth getting excited about. The Mansfield Farmers’ Market has always been about showcasing what this region is capable of producing – and locally grown black truffle is about as compelling an argument as it gets.
Merrijig Truffiere joins a strong winter roster that includes Boonderoo Bread, Turkish Star Bread, Verduci Produce, The 3 Bees, Swiftcrest Distillery, Delatite Special Occasions, Maindample Fudge, Young Tree Wines and CV Plants & Gardens.
The market runs every second and fourth Saturday on the High Street median strip in Mansfield, 8:30am to 1pm. Merrijig Truffiere will be back – watch this space.
