May brought cooler mornings, deeper colour in the hills and some of the year’s best seasonal produce to the Mansfield Farmers’ Market.
There’s something about an autumn market in the High Country that feels particularly right. The light is lower, the air is sharper, and the produce on the stalls reflects exactly what the season is doing – root vegetables, late-harvest fruit, preserves and the kind of comfort food you start craving when the temperature drops.
The Mansfield Farmers’ Market ran on 9 May and 23 May with the full producer roster, including fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables from Verduci Produce, bread from Boonderoo Bread and Turkish Star Bread, honey from The 3 Bees, eggs from Sprocket’s Hatchery, jams and relishes from Bucks Farm and spirits from Swiftcrest Distillery.
For visitors in the High Country during the autumn season, the market has become a natural Saturday morning stop – a way to pick up local provisions before heading out into the landscape.
The market runs every second and fourth Saturday from February to December, 8:30am to 1pm, on the High Street median strip between the Post Office and the Delatite Hotel
